As fellow outdoor enthusiasts, we all know that one of the biggest considerations when planning a trip is what Mother Nature will throw at you. She can, at times, be peaceful and accommodating or she can rain fire and brimstone down from the heavens.
South Carlsbad State Beach – North End Review
California beach camping seems to be a basket of mixed good. Our trip to Carpentaria State Beach showed us how small a camping site could be. Our trip to South Carlsbad State Beach showed exactly how awesome a campsite could be if you are ok being up on a cliff.
Over the course of our camping life, Eric and I have had a number of camping rigs. We’ve had a tent, a short, 12 foot, fully self-contained travel trailer, a toy hauler, a slide in truck camper, a longer travel trailer with a pop out and our current rig. Each rig we’ve had has its own unique list of pros and cons, but we’ll save that discussion for another day.
California State Beach campgrounds are like the dirty, little secret for California campers. Those who know, are willing and able to do what it takes to secure a reservation 6 months in advance. Those of us not in the know never seem to be able to reserve a spot so we don’t know what we are missing.
Well, we were lucky enough to start our 2018 camping season off at Carpinteria State Beach. We did a quick 2 night stay in our 16’ Wolf Pup travel trailer the beginning of May.
